Bustling away!

I’m sitting in a busy food court in down town Dubai and I can hear a constant bustling sound. It’s those sounds of those gossip movers, those fast paced ambitious youths, and the ageing experienced work warriors. Then a thought occurred to me.

Do we ever take note of all this constant movement, and maybe just once realise the impact of being still or motionless at a point in time? Of course there is all this theory abound about meditation, the power of now, being in the moment and on and on and on the list of highly expressed descriptions is given. But it appears these very souls who converge at this very moment are privy to such notions and don’t understand or are not at an emotionally intelligent level to understand the impact of such stillness!

Of late I have pondered about how often we as an intelligent race take a step back and notice the mad rush people are in, like headless chickens trying to escape from the impending doom of another chop by the knife, the knife of the rat race.

There is of course some joy for some in this constant bustle, a sense of being on a high, albeit a fleeting high. If you think about those moments where all this noise or bustle was not prevalent, you may have felt a certain power, an energetic power. I wonder if this power is a reminder of the inherent potential in all human beings…we just need to slow down and take a step back.

So next time you find yourself in that moment, think of the power that has taken you thus far in your life. Then you can proceed to bustle away with a fulfilling purpose!
